While manicures are nothing new to you, when spring arrives, you may want to have pedicures too. If you've been doing your pedicures at home, you may not realize that some preparation will make your scheduled appointment go smoothly. What does pedicure prep involve?

Soaking Feet

To make your pedicure easier for both you and the technician who will be working on your feet, it's better to deal with dryness and minor cracking in the days before the appointment. About a week before you go in, soak your feet nightly in warm water nightly. You might include Epsom salts to soothe soreness as well. After soaking, moisturize your heels and toes with lotion or cocoa butter.

Avoid Skinny Pants

When your pedicure begins, the technician will likely soak your feet again. If you appear at the nail salon in skinny jeans, this can be uncomfortable. You'll likely have to roll up the bottom cuffs, which is tough in such jeans, and if you can't roll the cuffs high enough, the jeans will get wet. Therefore, wear loose-fitting bottoms that are easy to get out of the way as the technician works on your feet.

Don't Shave

You may not want to have stubble growing on your legs or toes when you know that someone will be handling your feet and lower legs. However, shaving too recently can leave tiny cuts or nicks that leave your skin more susceptible to infection or discomfort from any chemicals used. Avoid shaving for a couple days before the pedicure.

Consider Buying Polish

When your toenails have been painted, you may love how they look. However, after walking around for a few days, the polish may chip; that's not uncommon. However, you might not have the same color in your home and worry that your toenails don't look as good. To prevent problems and touch-up your nails, consider buying polish at the salon when your pedicure has been done.

If you don't wish to make any extra purchases, you can also bring some of your personal nail polish from home.

Remember Flip-Flops

To let the polish dry naturally and avoid trouble, remember to wear flip-flops. Because your toes won't be covered, you won't mess up your new nails.

With these pedicure prep tips, your experience will be satisfactory. Your nail salon may have more directions, so contact them directly with questions about the nail appointment.
